On Ordoñez, Bonderman and Red Sox starters

  • Tampa SS Rey Ordoñez is a much better hitter in the American League. With the Mets, he would hit eighth, in front of the pitcher. But with Tampa, he's hitting ninth, and those kids at the top of the order (OFs Carl Crawford and Rocco Baldelli) are making sure that Ordonez gets better pitches to see.

  • The thing I like about the Red Sox starters is the contrast they offer. You've got two power guys with Pedro (Martinez) and (Casey) Fossum, two finesse guys with (Tim) Wakefield and (John) Burkett, and (Derek) Lowe, who's got the power sinker. When you can give teams different looks from day-to-day, it makes it tough.
