Sweep clouds Red Wings' future

Look on the bright side, Hockeytown, now the Red Wings get more time to negotiate with Sergei Fedorov before he becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1.

The defending Stanley Cup champions' offseason -- and negotiating season with Fedorov -- began more abruptly than they expected when the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim completed a four-game sweep with a 3-2 overtime victory Wednesday night.

Goaltender Curtis Joseph has been receiving and will continue to receive more than his share of the blame. Though he was outplayed by Anaheim's Jean-Sebastien Giguere, CuJo was just one of many reasons Detroit failed so badly in losing four one-goal games in its Cup defense.
