Some call him "Quoteless Joe" because his soft-spoken demeanor doesn't lend itself to self-promotion or trash talk, but it can never be said Joe Sakic doesn't play his best when it matters most.

Sakic continued to let his performance speak for itself with his destruction of the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night. He scored the first two goals and added an assist in Colorado's 3-1 Game 4 victory that gave the Avalanche a 3-1 lead in the first-round series.

"It's his time of year," Avalanche coach Tony Granato said. "Let's face it. Whether it be the Olympics, the playoffs, the Stanley Cup final, the good players and the great players raise their game to another level."
