The Lowdown on Kurt Thomas

Allan Houston is the Knicks' best shooter. Latrell Sprewell is their most explosive force. But Kurt Thomas has been the most consistent Knickand, as the team makes an improbable playoff push, the most valuable. New York's only legit inside presence, the 6'9" center has delivered scoring, rebounding and defense. Here's what the scouts have to say about him.

SCOUT 1: There are better rebounders, better scorers and better defenders, but few better all-around players. Has a knack for drawings fouls or forcing double-teams because he's active in the post. Defensively, if he can't guard you straight up, he's smart enough to use his body for leverage. Some say he's dirty. I think he's smart.
