Her Call

Chris Webber bends over, hands on knees, cozying up to the woman next to him. The fourth quarter is about to start and ARCO Arena is its usual packed-to-the-rafters raucous madhouse, but he's creating an intimate moment here. He wants her to feel as if they have a special connection, a reason to trust each other. "You know," he says softly, flashing the big puppy-dog eyes that even Tyra Banks couldn't resist, "he really is pushing me."
The woman cocks her head and studies his face. A girl from Compton learns real quick to see the scam beneath the charm. "Really?" she asks.
