NFL right move for McGahee

MOBILE, Ala. -- Despite the serious knee injury (torn ACL and MCL) Miami RB Willis McGahee suffered in the Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State, the third-year sophomore has declared for the NFL draft. I believe it's a smart decision. The big benefit for McGahee in going pro this year is that he'll be that much closer to free agency (after four years in the NFL, a player is eligible to become a free agent).
Let me explain. Before McGahee was injured, I expected him to be a first-round pick -- a likely top-five pick overall. If McGahee had returned to Miami and tried to re-establish himself as a first-rounder, there's no guarantee he could have done so.
