Chiefs QB Trent Green vs. Chargers QB Drew Brees

The Chiefs' offense has been explosive this season, even against a couple of the best defenses in the league. The only way to beat this team is to match it in offense, which isn't terribly difficult considering how wretched the Chiefs' defense has been playing, and to force Trent Green into turning the ball over. The Chargers' defense, when healthy, can certainly be considered among the league's elite, but San Diego is far from healthy right now. Its top three defensive players — LB Junior Seau, S Rodney Harrison and DE Marcellus Wiley — are all hobbling with only Seau looking like he'll play against the Chiefs. Brees proved last week that he cannot carry the offensive load in attempting a second-half comeback. As a first-year starter, Brees can play very efficiently when RB LaDainian Tomlinson is getting lots of carries and the defense is giving the offense the ball in good field position. Take him out of that safety net, and Brees struggles. That leaves the Chargers unable to match the Chiefs' offense in a shootout, no matter how bad the Chiefs' defense plays.
