Versatile Smith a two-sport superstar

My No. 22 prospect -- WR Bret Smith (6-2, 175, 4.5) of Warren, Ark. -- ranks as one of the nation's premier athletes. He's without a doubt the state's top prospect and its most explosive offensive player.
As a junior he broke Arkansas records with 102 catches for an astounding 2,485 yards and 24 TDs, leading Warren to the state title. Watching him on film, I was amazed at his athletic ability, flexibility and concentration. He showed tremendous separation speed and the ability to get open despite double-teams. I was also impressed with his hand strength, and he's one of those rare players who has to be watched on every play.
At DB, he intercepted eight passes, returning one for a TD, and is also one of the state's top kick and punt returners.
