Is Newton the next McNabb?

After meeting my No. 21 prospect -- QB Syvelle Newton (6-2, 202, 4.4) of Bennettsville (Marlboro County), S.C. -- I think he may be the closest prospect to Donovan McNabb that I've seen in the past five years. He's a tremendously gifted all-around QB who as a junior threw for 1,763 yards and 23 TDs and rushed for an astounding 2,009 yards and 28 scores, averaging 9 yards per carry. What really impressed me was his football smarts. He's dangerous on the rollout, in fact becoming another RB once he decides to take off. He ranks with Tom Zbikowski as one of the two best running QBs in the nation. Defenses try to adjust to him, but it does them no good. He's a stronger runner than many of the nation's top RB prospects, and defenders get caught in no man's land between the rushing and passing lanes when they face him. But his arm strength distinguishes him from most other running QBs; he can throw the ball more than 70 yards.
