Knee injury drops Evans to No. 15

A knee injury has dropped Wisconsin receiver Lee Evans from No. 5 to No. 15 on Mel Kiper's Big Board for 2003.

My Big Board for the 2003 NFL Draft remains the same as it was following the 2002 draft with only one exception -- Lee Evans.

The talented Wisconsin receiver drops from No. 5 to No. 15 on my draft list after having surgery last week to repair ligaments in his left knee, which he hurt during the Badgers' spring game. He is expected to be back in either September or October, but no one knows how his speed will be affected.

If Evans had skipped his senior season and entered the NFL draft instead of returning to Wisconsin, he would have been rated in the mix with Donte Stallworth and Ashley Lelie. Evans, who I thought was the best receiver in college football last season, ran a 40 time of 4.28 earlier in the spring.
