The Wilton projection system, developed by Clay Davenport, is an integral part of every "Baseball Prospectus" annual. We run projections for every position player in the book, almost 1,000 players in all.
As with any projection system, Wilton has its successes and failures. For example, here's what we projected for two of the game's best hitters last year, and what they actually did:
AB H 2B T HR Run RBI BB SO SB AVG OBP SLG
Brian Giles, Wilton 529 163 30 2 35 121 133 110 74 6 .308 .427 .571
Brian Giles, 2001 576 178 37 7 37 116 95 90 67 13 .309 .404 .590
