Hawaii junior wide receiver Ashley Lelie ran an outstanding 40-yard time despite pulling his hamstring at his personal workout Monday.
Lelie ran the 40 in 4.31 seconds on a track. He also measured 6-foot-3 and 197 pounds (he added muscle to his angular frame since the 2001 season ended). Lelie's other numbers from Monday's workout: a 39-inch vertical leap and 10 feet, eight inches in the standing broad jump.
Lelie also pulled a hamstring before the NFL combine, which kept him from running for the NFL brass in Indianapolis. The injury will probably prevent him from any more workouts before the April 20-21 draft. Also, he likely will be questionable for the post-draft mini-camps held by the team that drafts him.
