So my NBA counterpart recently wrote that he thinks 60 percent of the married guys in his sport cheat. I think it's a much lower percentage in baseball. I'd estimate that 15 percent of married MLB players fool around, and many of those guys have understandings with their wives: Indiscretions stay on the road, and the family gets taken care of at home. I do think divorce is a more real possibility for baseball players than your average citizen, though. Our lifestyle just doesn't lend itself to functional relationships. And it's not always because a guy is messing around -- it gets old that people assume we're all womanizers -- it's about the demands of our job.
