It's time to get realistic. With just a few weeks left in the college football season, there's a very good chance the way the BCS standings look now is the way they will look when the computer runs for a final time before bowl season. The biggest obstacle for any of the four top teams -- the Oregon Ducks, Auburn Tigers, TCU Horned Frogs and Boise State Broncos -- is going to be when Auburn has to play a beleaguered and very angry Bama team.
This makes me sad. I believe Boise is the best team in the country. I think the Broncos' stats prove it, I think their record over the past four seasons proves it. I think the fact they beat Oregon last year to start the season and TCU to end it and Virginia Tech to start this one proves it. This is a team that blows out bad opponents, never playing down to the level of the other guys on the field, and plays smart against great opponents. Bottom line, put this team in the gosh-dang national title game, if for no other reason than it would be nice to stop debating this topic.
Of course, this won't happen. What is likely to happen is another Boise-TCU bowl game.
