A typical day during the college basketball season offers many opportunities to bet. In a way, it's somewhat similar to baseball with the sheer volume. There's always an option. Often times, the best value can be found in the games that the fewest people are watching and betting.
If you're watching Summit League basketball, chances are you either know someone on the team, you're an alumnus, or you have action.
Take a look below at three of the teams in the Sweat Barometer Top 25. They hail from the Summit League. South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Southern Utah have been three of the most consistent ATS winners as well, as those that give their backers the least "sweat" as we like to say. (For the uninitiated, the SB is what some bettors would refer to as average margin of cover.) All three of these teams are actually in the SB top 10. They've been covering with ease.
South Dakota State has covered in seven of its last eight games, including a 92-73 win over Washington when it was a 12.5-point underdog. The Jackrabbits are the highest scoring team in the conference, averaging 79.1 points per game, led by guard Nate Wolters' 21.1 ppg average.
North Dakota State's five starters are either freshmen or sophomores and the Bison have four players averaging double figures. North Dakota State has the conference's best scoring margin, outscoring opponents by 13 points per game and is limiting opponents to a 38.5 shooting percentage, the best in the conference.
Southern Utah doesn't have one scorer in the top 10 in the conference, but has the best rebounding margin and averages the most assists per game of any team in the Summit League.
So as far as I'm concerned, Duke-North Carolina can wait. South Dakota State travels to Southern Utah tomorrow night. North Dakota State makes the same trip on Saturday. Load up the computer to watch the country's dominant gambling conference.
With that, let's turn to the CBB Sweat Barometer, with data as always provided by handicapper Sal Selvaggio of MadduxSports.com.
