One brief note about terminology: each team normally dresses six defensemen (D-men) each game. If a player is a top-2 D-man then he's considered to be among the two best defenders on a given team. Most teams need at least four good defensemen, so anyone referred to as top-4 defenseman is considered to be pretty good. A power play (PP) usually has two D-men playing the point on a traditional 5-on-4 situation. Sometimes those D-men are called QBs, as in they quarterback the power play.
