The only people more upset over the Aaron Rodgers injury than the Cheese Head in the State Farm commercials are the millions of fantasy owners wondering whether their season is in jeopardy. Rodgers' collarbone injury looks as if it will keep one of the top producers in the league out of commission for weeks, which directly affects the skill players around him.
Just last week, I pointed out the Packers had the easiest remaining schedule of pass defenses, but, if Monday night was any indication, nothing will come easy with Seneca Wallace at quarterback -- at least nothing in the passing game.
With James Jones back, the Jarrett Boykin experiment is over. He's deadweight on your roster. Jordy Nelson's ascension to the elite might be over quickly, although his talent is good enough to produce on his own without stellar quarterback play. It's hard to say that about Jones or anyone the Packers have at tight end now.
Contrary to popular belief, the "eight men in the box, he'll never run now!" narrative is not based in reality. Eddie Lacy will continue to be a great RB1 in fantasy and real life. He might even reach his full potential now that the Packers should be relying on the run and scaling back the passing game.
Other writers do their midseason awards at this time. But how's this for an "All-Injury Fantasy Team" so far:
• QB Aaron Rodgers
• QB Sam Bradford
• RB Doug Martin
• RB Shane Vereen
• RB David Wilson
• WR Julio Jones
• WR Randall Cobb
• WR Reggie Wayne
• WR Percy Harvin
• WR Roddy White
• TE Jermichael Finley
• TE Dwayne Allen
• TE Dennis Pitta
Depressing, isn't it? With the Rodgers injury and a resurgent Tom Brady on a bye week, we added more quarterbacks to the tables this week to increase ideas for a backup plan.
Here are the best and worst fantasy matchups for Week 10:
(Note: References to defensive rankings for the pass and run are based on Football Outsiders' DVOA metric, explained here).
Jake Locker (plus-4 points)
He's playing the Jaguars at home. Need I say more? Locker has had multiple touchdown passes in three starts this season and has two rushing touchdowns. This matchup makes Chris Johnson, who had his best game in more than a year last week, a top play, as well.
