Fantasy Cheat Sheet: Week 8
A week's worth of advice to help you make your last-minute moves
Thursday was a big night for Cam Newton, who is the Week 8 leader in fantasy points (27 in standard ESPN scoring) heading into Sunday. For those who had grown accustomed to having Vincent Jackson carry your wide receiver scoring load? Yeah, not so much.
This is the first of two consecutive weeks in which six NFL teams are on a bye, and that's been a common theme for many of our writers recently: What to do when your usual stud starter gets his one week off?
Let's have a look at some of the solutions proposed by our writers, as well as some of the other greatest hits from the week of fantasy football content at ESPN Insider:
Let's start right there, with a player who should be on everyone's radar now that he posted 50 points over the past two games. In this week's edition of the Fantasy Scouting Report, Tim Hasselbeck writes that, although those numbers do skew Dalton's seasonal total a bit, the fact remains that there aren't a lot of players who can post 50 points over a two-week span. Moreover, as a lot of QBs hit their byes, a player such as Dalton (who's still available in more than half of ESPN.com leagues) should be considered as a fill-in.
To read more fantasy advice, including which players you should start and which you should avoid in Week 8, you must be an ESPN Insider.
