Pass Plays: Week 8 waiver pickups

Fantasy football owners can be a lot like upscale shoppers when it comes to waiver picks. Big-name players on successful teams have no trouble raising their ownership percentage (witness Deion Branch's 59.1 percent increase after one 15-point game in a New England Patriots uniform), while players on less successful teams can often struggle to see any spike in their ownership levels.

The Pass Plays series knows that, barring certain disastrous offensive situations (e.g. Carolina, Cleveland, etc.), the PR quotient of a team should have absolutely no bearing on how a fantasy owner views a potential waiver pickup. That is certainly the case with this week's picks, as eight of the 10 players featured are from teams that have poor records and/or are coming off painful losses.
