Offseason Notebook: Brodie Croyle might start
When Damon Huard, who played surprisingly well in relief of Green last year, signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs during the offseason, it appeared he would be Green's initial replacement. Yet it has become very apparent recently that Huard is ticketed for backup duty again in 2007. Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards openly has backed second-year pro Brodie Croyle as the successor to Green. If the season were to begin today, all indications are that Croyle would be the starter. Green might be gone, but his influence supposedly has rubbed off on the young quarterback.
"You can tell he was around Trent Green," Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard recently told the Kansas City Star. "A lot of the things Trent did and the way he carried himself, you can see that in Brodie."
