Engel: Offseason Notebook Feb. 14
The Houston Chronicle has reported that Texans general manager Rick Smith has indicated other teams have inquired about the availability of David Carr. While the GM maintained that Carr is still the Texans' starting quarterback, he is open to discussions regarding his current No. 1 QB.
"My goal is to improve our team in any way possible," Smith told the Chronicle. He added that he has taken some calls about players currently on the roster, including Carr, and if he thinks he can make a move involving players on other teams or his own, he'll absolutely consider such options. There has been a lot of talk coming out of Houston that the Texans might trade Carr, and they have been rumored to be a prime contender to acquire Denver's Jake Plummer, who is also a candidate to be dealt, especially with the quick ascension of Jay Cutler.
