Well, let's just make the statement right off the bat: That Rob Gronkowski guy is a pretty good football player. Gronkowski wasn't bad in 2010, either. He scored 10 touchdowns as a rookie and finished fifth in standard fantasy scoring among tight ends. But how could fantasy owners have known he wouldn't merely take a small step forward, but achieve the greatest statistical season in the history of the tight end position? He did it!
Gronkowski scored 233 standard fantasy points, 106 more than the third-place guy, his teammate Aaron Hernandez. In 2010, the top tight end was Jason Witten with only 146 points. Yeah, Gronkowski eased past that around midseason. In all, Gronkowski caught 90 passes for 1,327 yards and a crazy 17 touchdowns, plus he scored another on a run. Not bad, eh?
