Some will avoid new Cincinnati Reds right-hander Mat Latos simply because he doesn't call pitcher-friendly Petco Park his home ballpark anymore. However, the truth is that Latos doesn't have ridiculous home/away splits like many San Diego Padres pitchers have had over the years. In three seasons and covering 72 career starts, Latos has compiled a 3.57 road ERA, with a 1.15 WHIP and 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings. At home his ERA was 3.11, but the WHIP and K rate were nearly identical. Hey, Latos is simply a good pitcher, and he'll have success in Cincinnati.
