Position scarcity: Myth or reality?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of scarce is "deficient in quantity or number compared with the demand: not plentiful or abundant." White lions are scarce. Four-leaf clovers are scarce. Movie sequels better than the original are scarce. Good middle infielders in fantasy baseball are scarce.
