Thompson's timeline for impact
New prospect may start for Rangers in 2015; Corey Knebel may close soon
The Texas Rangers have been as consistently good this century as any team in baseball, but they're currently having one of their worst seasons since they were the Washington Senators, and it was only a matter of time before they began to move the "non-core" pieces as they fall further and further out of contention.
The first major piece of the rebuild that was obviously going to be dealt -- assuming you don't count Jason Frasor, and you shouldn't -- was moved on Wednesday night, as the Rangers traded Joakim Soria to the bullpen-starved Detroit Tigers. In return for Soria, they received two of the Tigers' most valuable trade pieces in right-handed pitcher Jake Thompson and right-handed reliever Corey Knebel.
Here's a look at what Thompson and Knebel add to the Rangers' system, and how they can help you -- and how soon they can help you -- in your fantasy keeper leagues.
