Gausman back in big leagues
Can Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect secure a permanent spot in rotation?
Coming into the year, Kevin Gausman was considered not only one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball, but one of the few hurlers who had a chance to get called up before the summer, as he had two big league stints in 2013 and needed less minor league seasoning than some of the other top prospects in the class.
And while the Baltimore Orioles have been careful with Gausman, keeping him on a strict pitch count and placing him on the disabled list after a bout with pneumonia, it appears they've seen enough to give the former first-round pick a chance to join the rotation, as he'll make his 2014 debut Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers.
Here's a look at what you can expect from Gausman in 2014, and why you can expect the right-hander to be a quality fantasy hurler for both this season and well beyond.
