Fantasy Forecaster: Who will be red-hot?
Detroit Tigers: 3 @TB; 4 @CLE. Oh so quietly, the Tigers are fourth in the majors in homers, tops in runs scored and RBIs, tops in slugging, tops in doubles, fourth in triples, and second in batting average. Not bad for a squad that plays in a park as big as Comerica. Magglio Ordonez is making noise as a possible AL MVP candidate; Gary Sheffield has found his stroke; and Carlos Guillen takes his place among some of the more underrated offensive players in baseball. Three against the woebegotten Rays, not including Scott Kazmir, should start the week off right, then the Tigers will face left-handers in three of four games against Cleveland. As a team, Detroit is hitting .295 with an .844 OPS against southpaws.
Cincinnati Reds: 1 vs. PIT; 3 @HOU; 3 @COL. Picking them in this spot last week turns out to have been a pretty good move; Ken Griffey Jr.'s tear continues; Adam Dunn is picking it back up again a little; and Brandon Phillips has remembered how to hit. It wasn't the offense's fault Cincy had such a poor week; the team's pitching remembered it throws in one of the hitter-friendliest parks in the majors. Anyway, I'll ride the Medium Red Machine again this week, as the Reds will avoid Roy Oswalt in Houston and get to hit against Woody Williams, Josh Fogg and Taylor Buchholz in extreme hitting environs.
