Inside the Matchups: Zimmerman versus Cards, Kershaw versus Pads
The Nationals' decision to bring up Jordan Zimmermann and Kip Wells from Triple-A on April 20 is shaping up as the one of the best transactions of the year. Zimmermann has sparkled in his first two starts in the big leagues and Wells has earned himself a chance to close out some games. On Friday night, Zimmermann faces Albert Pujols and the formidable Cardinals lineup in his third big league start. Zimmermann's best pitch in his repertoire is his curveball, which has already made some major leaguers look silly. Of the 10 swings against it so far, only one hitter has actually put the ball in play, and six swings have whiffed completely. No one has a hit against it yet.
