It's always nice when a top prospect appears to be as good as advertised once he starts playing pro ball.

Orioles catching prospect Matt Wieters signed too late to make his debut last season but has more than made up for lost time this year. It took him all of 69 games to get past advanced Class A ball and earn a promotion to Double-A.

While at Class A, the 2007 first-rounder out of Georgia Tech has hit .345 with 15 homers and almost as many walks as strikeouts, while throwing out a ton of baserunners from behind the plate. The switch-hitter has impressive bat speed and is taking the ball to all fields while showing power from both sides of the plate. He is eating up left-handed pitching, slugging .828 from the right side before his promotion.
