As the rosters for the latest edition of the Arizona Fall League made their rounds Tuesday, I talked with a bunch of longtime followers and scouts of the league. The opinion was unanimous: The talent level this year might be the highest it's been in recent years.

When you consider the words of AFL Executive Director Steve Cobb, who said, "History tells us between 75-100 of this year's players, or nearly 50 percent, will reach the major leagues next year," there's a lot of incentive for players to perform well, and it means that those who want to get a head start on dominating their competition in 2010 should pay close attention to what happens when the AFL begins its 18th season on Oct. 13.
