FLB: Rangers preview
For a hitter, life in Ameriquest Field is good. It's a hitter-friendly environment, and over the course of the past decade, the Rangers have done a fine job assembling quality offenses. They have ranked among the top five teams in the American League in runs per game and OPS each of the past five seasons. Unfortunately, the ballpark and the franchise's focus on hitting has hurt the team on the pitching side; the Rangers have ranked among the bottom three in the league in runs per game allowed in five of the past six seasons, and not once during that span did they register a team ERA below 4.53. (That peak year came in 2004, under pitching coach Orel Hershiser, who has since left the team.)
