Brad Hawpe was an All-Star for the Rockies this year, but in the second half, it has been the other two members of the Rockies' outfield who have played like ones.
The third organization appears to be the charm for Carlos Gonzalez, whose second-half explosion with the bat has been a large part of the Rockies' surge. When Gonzalez was coming up in the Diamondbacks organization, he drew comparisons to Alex Rios but has been known more for the players he been dealt for (Dan Haren, Matt Holliday) than his performance. But that's starting to change: In 83 at-bats since the break, Gonzalez has hit .373 with seven homers and three steals, and in the words of one scout who saw him recently, "[He] is finally doing a better job of not overswinging, and letting his natural power do the work."
