Rotowski: Draft Day Bargains
Spring training games have arrived, Brad Lidge is sucking in earnest, and if you're anything like me, your fantasy baseball draft is a scant week or two away. For me, it's always best to get the dang thing over with before March Madness gets going too strong; there's nothing worse than having to decide between Carlos Guillen and Felipe Lopez while simultaneously screaming for that last-second George Mason desperation jumper to go in. Last year, I had J.J. Redick starting at my corner infield position, and Ichiro Suzuki penciled in my bracket's Sweet 16. Quelle déception!
This week, I turn that famed Rotowski laser focus (such as it is) on hitters. My mission? Uncover 10 batters who will be available in your fantasy draft later than they should, and subsequently will be of great use to your team. In order to do this, I'll compare my personal player rankings with average draft position (or "ADP") of players taken in current drafts. I'll also give specific advice about when to take a given player in your single- or mixed-league draft. (And next week, we'll tackle pitchers.) To the spreadsheets! And make it snappy!
