Answer Guy: Which players should be given up on?

In previous years, I have made bad decisions when dropping a player who has been slumping (i.e. - Robinson Cano last year). How long does a person wait out a slump before dropping or trading them? A few examples would be Ryan Howard, Justin Verlander, and Rickie Weeks.
