- Tristan H. Cockcroft, Fantasy
It's never too early to prepare for the 2007 fantasy baseball season! So many things can change between now and next opening day, but in order to give you a head start on your research, here are my early outfield rankings. Since outfield has more players than most, I'll break them down into two parts, with this week's column covering the top 40 American Leaguers. (Free agents are listed in the league in which they most recently played.)
1. Vladimir Guerrero, Angels: People always seem to worry about Guerrero's back, which takes so much strain from those big, long swings, but in spite of that he has topped a .317 batting average, 32 homers and 108 RBI in each of his three seasons with the Angels, winning an MVP award. Guerrero might be the type whose career suffers a swift decline someday, but not today. He'll be 31 next year, an all-time great still in his prime years.
Tristan Cockcroft offers an early look at his top AL OF for the 2007 fantasy baseball season.
