As promised in my chat last week, here are my fantasy baseball player rankings for the season's second half. Players are ranked based upon overall fantasy value, most particularly for mixed Rotisserie 5x5 leagues, but also taking into account to a certain degree a player's value in all formats (head-to-head, points-based, etc.).
Keep in mind that projected player value only from the first day of the season's traditional second half (July 13) is considered, so those first-half surprises might be ranked lower than expected or lower than their current standing on our Player Rater. Also, historical second-half standouts might rank higher than you'd think. In other words, regard these rankings as you would if you're drafting a fresh team for our midseason fantasy game.
Players are broken down by position, with 30 apiece ranked at catcher, first base, second base, third base and shortstop, 60 outfielders, 80 starting pitchers and 50 relief pitchers. Players are listed at the position at which they have played the most games in 2006 (through the games of July 5), with the exception of designated hitters, which are marked with an asterisk (*) and listed at their draft positions in our game. Possible multi-position players in certain fantasy league types are also noted below.
