Saves are always a tricky thing to get in fantasy leagues, and with only 30 major league teams, there can only be 30 full-time closers at any given time. That makes it important to track not only the closer candidates on contending teams, but also the competitors for saves on some of the less talented teams. Here's a look at six teams that should enter spring training with several different pitchers vying for the closer role:
ATLANTA BRAVES: We've probably seen the last of John Smoltz as a major league closer, and if any current Braves starter gets shifted into the closer's role to fill the void, the likely candidate would be Jorge Sosa, who has relief experience and broke out with a 2.55 ERA a year ago. Right now, the team is denying that rumor, meaning Sosa stays in the rotation and the closer battle boils down to Chris Reitsma, Blaine Boyer and rookie Joey Devine. But don't rule out a trade; the Braves have been repeatedly linked to trade rumors with the Devil Rays for Danys Baez.
