Report: Mexican legend Blanco to sign with Fire

Veteran Mexican international striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco is poised to sign for Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, according to a published report Saturday.

The Chicago Tribune, citing a source close to the talks, reported that the Mexican soccer legend is expected to arrive in Chicago this week to sign a contract to play for the MLS club. He would become only the third player signed under MLS's new so-called "Beckham Rule", which grants teams the authority to buy players outside the $2 million-per-team salary cap.
