A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• The Braves salvaged the final game of their season series against the Padres on Sunday night, earning their only victory in six meetings with San Diego this year. No National League team has ever swept a season series from the Braves in their 130-year history. Three American League teams have done that against Atlanta since the advent of interleague play, but all were three-game series (the Orioles in 1997, and both the Orioles and Blue Jays in 1999).
