A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• Sam Perlozzo replaced Lee Mazzilli as Orioles manager Thursday. The Orioles were 14 games over .500 as late as June 21, when they were 42-28. The last manager to be replaced in-season after being at least 14 games over .500 was Gene Michael of the 1981 Yankees, who was fired on Sept. 6 by George Steinbrenner with the team 48-34. Bob Lemon replaced Michael and led the Yankees to the World Series, where they lost to the Dodgers in six games.
