A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• The Dodgers scored three first-inning runs off Pedro Martinez at Shea Stadium on Saturday, but New York bounced back to win, 7-5. It was the first time in 39 games this season that the Mets had won after trailing by three or more runs; every other major-league team had enjoyed at least one such victory, with Cincinnati leading the majors with 14 victories of that type!
