• Mark Mulder hit the first home run of his career and pitched the Cardinals to a 6-4 victory over the Brewers in the inaugural game at the new Busch Stadium on Monday. Only one other player in major league history hit a home run and earned the victory in the first game at a ballpark.
As everyone knows, that was Tom Parrott of the Reds on April 20, 1894 at League Park, where Cincinnati played its home games from 1894 to 1901.
