A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:

MLB

• The Brewers were handed their first loss of the season, a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of the Diamondbacks. Milwaukee became the eighth team in major league history to begin a season with at least five straight wins and then get shut out in its first loss. But the Brewers' margin of defeat in Sunday's game was the largest among those eight teams, surpassing the 6-0 loss suffered by the 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers after they opened that season with five straight wins.

• Detroit's season-opening winning streak was snapped with a 5-3 loss at Texas. But despite not hitting one out on Sunday, the Tigers' 17 home runs (all accumulated over their first five games) are the most for any team in major-league history through the first six games of a season.
