A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• Among the 16 finalists for induction this year into the Basketball Hall of Fame are Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Adrian Dantley and Don Nelson. • Barkley ranks 15th in NBA history in career rebounds (12,546), 16th in points (23,757) and 17th in steals (1,648). Only two other players rank among the top 20 in all three of those categories: Hakeem Olajuwon and Karl Malone.

Barkley averaged at least 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in 11 consecutive seasons (1985-86 to 1995-96). Only six other players in NBA history had streaks of at least that length: Shaquille O'Neal (13 straight entering this year), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (12), Wilt Chamberlain (12), Olajuwon (12), Moses Malone (11) and Bob Pettit (11).
