A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:
• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 28-0 loss in Foxboro dropped their record to 9-5. It was the third time in the last nine seasons that Tampa Bay was shut out after having already won at least nine games in that season. In 1997, the 9-5 Buccaneers lost to the Jets, 31-0, at Giants Stadium; in 1999, Tampa Bay carried a 9-4 record into Oakland, and lost 45-0. Over the same span in which the Buccaneers have suffered three such defeats (1997 to 2005), only two other NFL teams have been shut out in a season in which they had already won at least nine games (Atlanta in 2004, and Miami in both 1997 and 2001).
