I neither need nor want an apology from
Maurice Jones-Drew for doing the right thing in the
Jacksonville Jaguars' win over the
New York Jets on Sunday. On the contrary, I feel as though I need to apologize to
him for the farcical furor he's about to face.
For those who didn't see or hear about it, Jones-Drew -- one of the top players in fantasy football to begin with -- could have capped another outstanding performance with a 10-yard touchdown run inside the two-minute mark against the Jets. The Jaguars would have taken the lead but given the Jets plenty of time to drive back down the field for the winning points. Instead, Jones-Drew "pulled a Brian Westbrook" and kneeled down at the 1-yard line -- do you remember when the Philadelphia Eagles running back did this in 2007? -- thus capping a smarter 9-yard run, allowing the Jaguars to run out all but a few seconds of the clock and kick the winning field goal as time expired.
