I realize
Larry Johnson's owners must hate him right now, maybe even more than the
Kansas City Chiefs. LJ owners feel ridiculous for drafting him in the top 60 in August ahead of such players as
Cedric Benson,
Knowshon Moreno and
Tim Hightower among others. They want to turn the page on what has been a waste of a fantasy football season -- he has scored just 35 fantasy points -- and dumping him with an exclamation point seems warranted.
The problem: His owners shouldn't do that. At least not yet. The smart fantasy football owner doesn't rule out anything, especially when it comes to a struggling player with a track record that includes success. Sure, the Chiefs officially released Johnson on Monday to sever ties with a running back who was one game -- well, the way he's played this season, maybe two games -- from setting the franchise mark for rushing yards. Still, value remains for fantasy owners. The Chiefs could no longer trade him, so they cut him with an exclamation point. But fantasy owners can afford to wait longer.
