You might have heard there's a rather big game Sunday at Lambeau Field, with a Hall of Fame quarterback coming "home" against his former team, and let's just say the entire football world, fantasy and otherwise, will be watching. I celebrated this news by sitting Brett Favre in the two leagues I have him in.
It's not that I think Favre is a particularly bad play against the Green Bay Packers, but you have to keep emotion out of it when making fantasy lineup decisions. So what if he's a future Hall of Famer? Do you have someone better to use or not? Aaron Rodgers is a better play, for example. I know some people whose tiebreaker for making lineup decisions is whether they'll be able to watch one of the options play. Favre's Minnesota Vikings against the Packers is likely available viewing for almost everyone, so there's the tiebreaker. That seems kind of silly to me. Me? In one league, I had little trepidation in keeping Jay Cutler active, despite the stinkbomb he bestowed on us in Week 7. That was the good Ohio team Cutler's Bears faced. This week, it's the bad one. Keep a short memory in fantasy sports. And in the other league, I decided Kyle Orton coming off the bye to face a beatable Baltimore Ravens secondary was more enticing. We project Orton for 18 fantasy points, Favre for 13. I see why, and I acted appropriately.
