10 things I learned: Mendenhall, Cutler, Browns

While watching the Pittsburgh Steelers hold off the San Diego Chargers on Sunday night, I realized just how crazy the running back situations on those teams are, and how quickly they change.

There are four fantasy-relevant running backs on the Steelers and Chargers -- possibly five, if you include Mewelde Moore. And just think about how perceptions have been adjusted since the start of the season. For the Chargers, LaDainian Tomlinson couldn't have looked worse coming back from his ankle injury. He didn't run, catch or, especially, block well. He looked done, frankly, but you know and I know that in Week 6, after the Chargers' bye, he could look good again. He probably will go off, in fact, right about the time his owners are ready to give up on him. Darren Sproles, hero to all a few weeks back, didn't get any carries, and neither did the Steelers' Willie Parker, who looked reborn in Week 3 but missed the Chargers game because of turf toe. At this time last Monday, we loved Parker again. … By Friday, that feeling was already gone. How ridiculous! And then there was a certain running back who was in his coach's doghouse several days ago … but not anymore.
