I'll certainly be watching Sunday as Michael Vick makes his season debut for the Philadelphia Eagles, but I don't think it's important for fantasy owners to do so. Really, what's the best-case scenario for fantasy here? Maybe Vick breaks a play or two, maybe he scores a touchdown, but we certainly cannot expect either of those scenarios to happen. Look, Vick isn't the starting quarterback. He's probably not even the backup. Maybe he gets into a few plays in the Wildcat formation, which is great and could help the Eagles get some yards, but unless he scores a touchdown -- and that's really wishful thinking -- fantasy owners should look elsewhere.
Since this weekly Friday blog is called "What to Watch for," let's be honest: Everyone wants to see how Vick does. He's been one of the biggest stories in football for months, and now that his suspension is over, he'll dress as the Eagles host the Kansas City Chiefs and try to figure out how to use their new weapon. Don't get too excited and think that just because he might be one of the few legit weapons they have, with Brian Westbrook and DeSean Jackson missing practice Thursday, that he'll make a big difference. I found it interesting that Vick is owned in 16.6 percent of ESPN standard leagues. How wonderful for him, but here are some quarterbacks who I actually like to help fantasy owners this week that are owned in far fewer leagues:
Byron Leftwich, Buccaneers
Shaun Hill, 49ers
Marc Bulger, Rams
Kevin Kolb, Eagles
